We sell hemp as a commodity and provide education for the growing marketplace. We’re proud to partner with higher education institutions such as Redlands Community College and Oklahoma State University to research the seed, oil, fiber, biofuel and soil reclamation properties of industrial hemp.
ABout our Founder
Tina Walker is a fourth-generation Oklahoma farmer who uses her legal expertise to spearhead the state’s emerging industrial hemp industry.
Born and raised in Hennessey, Tina started working on her family’s farm as a small child and continues to work on the land today. She understands the value of farmers and the importance of hard work. She received her undergraduate and master’s degree from Oklahoma State University before earning her law degree from Oklahoma City University School of Law. Tina currently serves on the Board for the Oklahoma State University Alumni Association and is slated to join the Oklahoma State University Board of Governors in fall 2018. She was also a member of the Junior League of Oklahoma City and the Holloway Inn of Court.
Tina initially became interested in hemp while doing research for clients at her law practice, Walker, Walker & Sharp, P.C. She read about the soil reclamation properties of the crop and was intrigued by the plant’s potential as a commodity. Tina quickly realized industrial hemp could change the game for Oklahoma farmers, offering a viable alternative cash crop which could empower growers and increase the economic outlook of family farms.
Tina put her law practice on hold so she could launch Oklahoma’s industrial hemp industry. As president of the Oklahoma Hemp Growers Association, she used her legal knowledge to speak with legislators about the benefits of starting an industrial hemp pilot program. In 2017, she helped the state Legislature craft HB 2913, which authorized the Industrial Hemp Agricultural Pilot Program.
Botanac was formed in July 2017 to help farmers get their crops started and provide a built-in market to purchase the hemp once harvested. Tina and the Botanac team supply the seeds to grow industrial hemp for grain, seeds and CBD. Botanac also educates growers on best farming and growing practices. As a farmer herself, she understands the needs of the farmers who grow with her as well as the nuances of the hemp industry. She is passionate about growing the emerging hemp industry and providing a valuable resource to Oklahomans.
